Four armed thugs posing as police forced their way into a home, pistol-whipped a man and made off with cars in an early morning robbery in Miami, police said.

The four robbers showed up at the house on the 5000 block of SW 26th Street just before 1 a.m., identifying themselves as police officers and demanding entry into the house.

They forced three victims to the ground, a 71-year-old man and two women, and demanded money and other valuables, according to Miami-Dade Police.

As the phony cops were searching the house, another victim walked in and was pistol-whipped by one of the robbers.

The thieves, described as Hispanic males wearing dark clothing and two of them wearing masks, fled in two stolen cars, a red 2002 Cadillac Escalade, license plate Q58-4DD, and a red 1998 Ford Explorer, license plate R59-1BN.

Crooks posing as cops is becoming a disturbing trend in South Florida.

Miami-Dade police say they already have a fake cop on their roadways who has been pulling people over and robbing them.

And just last week, an elderly man was robbed in his own home by a burglar posing as a BSO deputy.

Anyone with information is urged to call CrimeStoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
