Family members and friends gathered last night to remember the three Coral Springs teen boys who died in a tragic crash earlier yesterday morning when their car plunged into a canal.

Tearful mourners returned to the scene of the accident at University Drive and Broken Woods Drive to hold a candlelight vigil to remember their friends.

"My best friend died, I can't believe it, no, that didn't happen," said Jonathan Posada.

The four teens, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, were celebrating their homecoming just after midnight Saturday when the red Volkswagen they were driving in hit another car, then went in reverse and flipped into a nearby canal.

The driver, Sean Maxey and friends Robert Nugent and Anthony Almonte, all 16, died. A fourth teen, Evan Sinisgalli, 15, was the only survivor.

"I'm numb, I'm numb, it's surreal right now," Almonte's mother, Donna Uzzi, said at the emotional gathering last night. "It's not real."

The mother of Robert Nugent was so overcome with emotion that she fainted and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance.

"There was no reason for them to go," said friend Dori Angely. "[We're here] to show we care for them even though they're not here anymore."

A mourning Uzzi said that at least one positive came from her son's tragic death.

"I'm proud of him, he was an organ and tissue donor, and today he, they called me and four of his heart valves went to four different people today," she said.

Police are still investigating the accident.
