Florida Exotic Dancer Wins Pole Dancing Award

A Boynton Beach stripper with a dirty dancing routine and dreams of becoming the country's top pole dancer fell just short in her quest Sunday night in New York.

Sarah Cretul, 21, who dances under the name "Bambi" at the Spearmint Rhino in West Palm Beach and as "Joy" at Lollipop in Daytona Beach earned the title "Miss Trixter" at the U.S. Pole Dance Federation Championships.

The honor is "one of two second-place awards," Anna Grundstrom, co-founder of the U.S. Pole Dance Federation, told the Sun-Sentinel. "She does things that I really haven't seen anyone do," Grundstrom said. "What she did blew a lot of people's minds."

Jenyne Butterfly of Las Vegas was the grand prize winner. Her Web site lists her as an "internationally known aerialist and pole dance instructor."

Cretul, who was one of 12 finalists, was born in Romania and grew up in Detroit, and says she is a "ghost hunter." She took home a trophy, a $300 gift certificate and a $500 check.
