Man Drives on Sidewalk, Runs Over Elderly Man

Elderly victim in critical condition

Miami-Dade police are looking for an impatient driver whose dangerous move Tuesday may prove deadly.

A 91-year-old man is in extremely critical condition after being hit by a hit-and-run driver who decided to take his SUV on to the sidewalk to get around a county transit bus.

The driver ran away after he hit the man and left his silver Toyota 4Runner behind. Police said video cameras on the county bus captured the entire incident on video.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of West Flagler Street and 39th Court. The transit bus was about to come to a stop, when the impatient driver swerved and decided to go off road.

In the video, the elderly man is waiting at the front of the bus and as the doors are about to open, he is blind-sided by the SUV.

The driver stops at first and is seen on the phone pacing near the SUV. As passengers get off the bus to see what happened, the man walks away and then disappears.

Witnesses said the driver ran into a nearby neighborhood.

Police don't think the vehicle is stolen and are using the registration and tag to locate the owner and possibly the hit and run driver. Andres Calero-Bravo has been named as a person of interest.

The elderly man was waiting to get on the bus at the stop.

The elderly victim was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital.
