Man Shoots Girlfriend, Flees With Son Then Turns Gun On Self

Murder-suicide after man takes son away from scene of shooting

A Pompano Beach man shot his girlfriend inside his home and fled the scene with his young son before shooting himself inside his car, police said.

The incident began just before 8 p.m. at the Golden Square apartment complex on the 1300 block of Northwest 18th Dr., where police responded to a domestic incident.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the man, identified as 29-year-old Abel Ferdinand Jr., fatally shot his girlfriend, Nattalie Ann Cardona Nenadich, 25, inside the home, then fled the scene with his 3-year-old son to the 2900 block of Northwest 33rd Way in Lauderdale Lakes.

Police say the man shot himself in the car just before 9 p.m. They say the boy was not in the car at the time and was uninjured.
