Firefighters spent most of the morning battling a blaze that left a famous $7 million Miami Beach waterfront mansion in smoldering ruins.

Miami-Dade fire boats assisted Miami Beach firefighters to put out the blaze at the lavish castle-themed mansion at 4462 North Bay Rd.

It took crews, which responded about 8:30 a.m., about two hours to get the fire under control.

The home was built in 1925 and boasts 10 bedrooms, seven and a half baths and over 11,000 square-feet.  It has turrets, towers, a draw bridge and even a moat, filled with sharks.

The house had been for sale for a while, with an asking price of $6.9 million.

Fire officials described the fire as quick-moving and intense. They believe the home was empty during the blaze.

The homeowner had recently been cited for code violations for trash and stagnant pool water, according to officials.
