Embattled Miami pol Michelle Spence-Jones is sticking to her guns.
Though she didn't actually attend her arraignment this morning, the suspended District 5 Commissioner pleaded not guilty to bribery charges, according to the Miami Herald.
Her lawyers entered the plea for her.
Spence-Jones has maintained her innocence since she was first charged with grand theft last November for using $50,000 in county funds for her family's spa and restaurants.
She was suspended from her position by Gov. Charlie Crist, then won back her seat in a special election anyway. Crist suspended her again in January.
Spence-Jones, 42, was indicted in March for allegedly taking $25,000 from a developer in return for her help in securing votes.
According to prosecutors, Spence-Jones approached the MDM Hotel Group and the Codina Group to "donate" funds to an entity of her choice in 2006. In return, she would vote to extend the name "Brickell Avenue" further north along SE 2nd Street in downtown.
Spence-Jones has called the indictments and Crist's suspensions a "witch hunt."
Her lawsuit against Gov. Crist to fight his power to suspend her was tossed by a judge two weeks ago.
