This might be a good costume for Alex Sink.

Talk about being tricked.

State workers who checked their online statements on Wednesday thought they had found a treat when their pay stub said they had received a $1,000 bonus for the month.

But just like a ghost, the money evaporated into thin air - or cyberspace. The bonuses were a major computer glitch, according to the Miami Herald.

State CFO Alex Sink, who is running for governor, runs the electronic pay system and is working hard to make sure no one gets paid extra coin. We can't confirm rumors that her new name around the office is Wicked Witch of the South.

The state pays some workers in a lump sum at the end of the month. So when around 1,600 looked for their pay stubs, they saw the gift money on the stub, but not quite in their account.

The state is working hard to make sure the money doesn't show up, so hold off on that platinum vampire grill.

Is it too early to shout out Ba Humbug?
