Brothers Killed in Confrontation With Police

Officer suffers minor injuries in shooting in Miramar

Two brothers were killed and an officer was injured when police opened fire during a confrontation at a Miramar apartment complex Tuesday night.

Police said brothers Herson and Hedson Hilaire were killed in the shooting that happened around 9 p.m. at the Tuscany Apartments at 8265 Southwest 25th Ct.

Officers were conducting a narcotics investigation at the home when they approached the Hilaire brothers who were in a car outside the complex.

Miramar Police spokesperson Tania Ruiz said officers approached the two, identified themselves as cops, but the brothers hit the gas and ran over one of the officers.

That's when police opened fire, killing both brothers.

The officer's injuries were minor and didn't require medical attention.

Herson Hilaire, 28, has criminal records in Miami-Dade and Broward, police said. Hedson Hilaire was 33.
