1 Arrest Made in Armed Kidnapping and Sexual Battery Case: North Miami Beach Police

Police have not released many details so they do not compromise their continuing investigation

A juvenile suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the armed kidnapping and sexual battery of a woman earlier this month, North Miami Beach Police said Monday.

The suspect, who was arrested this weekend, has been charged with armed sexual battery, armed carjacking, armed kidnapping and possession of marijuana, police said in a news release.

But no further details will be disclosed at this time so the continuing investigation into the Jan. 16 kidnapping is not compromised, police said.

"Detectives are still actively pursuing other involved subjects and checking for links to any other similar cases," said police, who have previously said they were seeking two suspects.

The victim was picking up food from a restaurant at 1026 North Miami Beach Blvd. close to midnight on Thursday, Jan. 16 when she was approached by at least two male suspects who wielded handguns and wore black gloves, according to police.

The suspects then forced her into the back of her car and drove to the Oak Grove area of North Miami-Dade where she was sexually assaulted by multiple people, police said.

They then drove the victim around various locations in North Miami-Dade and North Miami Beach before dropping her off by her home, according to police.

As detectives continue to investigate, they are working with several law enforcement agencies to solve other possible cases, police said.

Police ask anyone with information on the case to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS or Det. N. Morrison at 305-949-5500.
