1 Dead After Shooting Near School in Miami Gardens Tuesday Morning

Police say man shot and killed his ex-wife's mother, left her brother in critical condition

One person was killed and another was critically injured in a shooting in Miami Gardens that had the area around one middle school closed off Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m. near Northwest 17th Place and 157th Street.

According to Miami Gardens Police, 34-year-old Emmanuel Saint Fleur went to his ex-wife's home, where she lives with her mother and brother.

Saint Fleur shot the mother and brother while his ex-wife fled the home, police said.

The mother, 69-year-old Paula Danis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The brother, 32-year-old Jude Danis, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. 

Saint Fleur fled the scene and is now wanted for first-degree murder, police said.

North Dade Middle School is within the police perimeter set up and students were dropped off at another part of the campus while the investigation took place.
