1 Dead in Police Involved Shooting in Southwest Miami-Dade: Cops

Police said shots were fired after a man wielded a knife in front of police.

Miami-Dade Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left one man dead.

Officers were dispatched to 16140 Southwest 197th Avenue at about 9 p.m. Saturday following reports of a dispute, according to a Miami-Dade Police news release.

When the officers arrived and made contact with the subject, he took out a knife and shots were fired, officials said.

The man, who was unidentified, was pronounced dead on the scene, the release said. The officer who fired the shots has also been unidentified.
