One dolphin was found dead and authorities were working to save another that was stranded off Fort Myers Beach Thursday.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officers responded around 6 a.m. and discovered the dead dolphin near the Fort Myers Beach Pier, NBC 2 reported.

Veterinarians and biologists were responding to attempt to help the other dolphin. Wildlife officers were working with Lee County deputies and beach officials to patrol the area and search for other dolphins.

Crime scene tape was put up at the beach to keep onlookers from getting too close.
