1 Killed in Opa-locka Shooting, Police Questioning 3 People

The victim died at Ryder Trauma Center

Three people were being questioned by investigators after a man was killed in a shooting in Opa-locka Monday, police said.

The shooting happened around 12:25 p.m. in the area of Northwest 133rd Street and Alexandria Drive, officials said.

Opa-locka Police responded after shots were fired and found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, Miami-Dade Police said. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said he was airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center, and police said he later died there.

Investigators followed "real-time intelligence" to an apartment at Northwest 135th Street and Northwest 32nd Court, and after negotiations by the MDPD's SWAT team, three people were removed from the apartment for questioning, police said.

The details about what led to the shooting were unknown.

Police also said that a firearm and an assault weapon were recovered from a white Buick LaCrosse sedan at a related crime scene at Northwest 132nd Street and Cairo Lane, police said.

They continue to investigate.
