One person was killed after a violent collision involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 in Weston early Monday.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. when the tractor-trailer rear-ended a car that was stopped without its lights on in the right lane of westbound I-75 near the Indian Trace exit, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The driver of the car was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, FHP officials said. He hasn't been identified.

The crash caused the tractor-trailer to jackknife across the lanes of westbound I-75. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
