A woman, who was pulled from the water after a vehicle drove into a canal in Southwest Ranches, has died.
The incident happened Tuesday in the area of Griffin Road and Bonaventure Boulevard.
Broward Sheriff's Office divers and Davie Fire Rescue responded to the scene.
Fire fighters said before first responders arrived, strangers tried rescue the woman, identified as Claudia Cayne, and her dog.
Footage showed Cayne being pulled from the water and placed on a stretcher, which was loaded into the back of an ambulance.
A woman who said says she is a longtime friend of the victim said Cayne had a husband and three children.
"She's a nurse, very eclectic and fun loving... She's a kind sweet soul," said Mary Ann Knee.

She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition, and died on Thursday.
A dog that was also in the car could not be saved and died at the scene, officials said.
"I would assume it was her little Yorkie... because she goes everywhere with her... I've never seen Claudia without her," Knee said.
Officials said the car could have been in the water for up to 10 minutes. Authorities are trying to determine why the car went into the canal.
Residents in the area say this particular stretch of Griffin Road is unsafe. It merges from four to two lanes and there is no guardrail between the road and the canal.
One woman said her husband and daughter were almost in a bad wreck about two years ago when a wrong way driver nearly slammed into them.
"They had nowhere to go... either go into the canal or go into head on traffic," said Mary MacFie.
