$10.9 Million in Counterfeit Clothing, Jewelry Seized at Port of Miami

Fake goods from Burberry, Louis Vuitton, found in shipment from China

Nearly $11 million worth of counterfeit Burberry and Louis Vuitton clothing and jewelry was found in a shipment at the Port of Miami, officials said Thursday.

Officers with U.S. Customs and Border Protection discovered the items during a routine examination on June 8 in a shipment that had originated in China.

CBP worked with ICE, Homeland Security and representatives from the two companies and quickly determined the items had been pirated.

The items had a manufactured suggested retail price of about $10.9 million, officials said.

"One of CBP’s missions is keeping counterfeit goods from reaching the American public and infiltrating our marketplace," U.S. Customs and Border Protection Director of Field Operations Vernon T. Foret said in a statement. "CBP and ICE HSI are committed to working together to prevent the influx of counterfeit merchandise into our country."
