The apocalypse is over.
After nearly four hours, AT&T has resolved whatever caused a massive wireless service outage for thousands of South Florida residents on Tuesday.
At around 6 p.m., an undisclosed problem with a wireless switch caused a virtual stop in communications for wireless customers with 3G connectivity, officials said.
The problem was fixed just after 10 p.m.
Within minutes of the problem surfacing, people were lighting up social media sites with comments ranging from manic depression at the loss of their phone service to total and complete outrage that a media giant like AT&T could let this happen.
The outage affected customers from southern Broward County through Monroe County.
"AT&T technicians quickly worked to resolve the issue, and service is now running normally. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers," a statement read.

Some customers were able to get back to texting and calling with a little help from their Facebook and Twitter friends.
For those with the iPhone 3 or 4, disabling the 3G in the settings allowed the user to talk and text normally.
For Blackberry phones, switching the wireless setting to 2G restored some of the services.
