The SunPass may soon work outside of Florida and in states like New York and New Jersey.

Officials with Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise told the Miami Herald they are working out a deal that would allow Florida drivers to pay tolls electronically in states that utilize the E-ZPass – the largest electronic toll system in the world.

The E-ZPass works in 14 states, including New York and New Jersey.

According to the newspaper, the deal would also allow drivers from those 14 states to use the E-ZPass in Florida.

Both agencies, though, still have to figure out how to move the toll money between the two payment systems.

A similar deal is also in the works with the state of Georgia, officials said.
