2 Boys Cling to Life After Dania Beach Hit and Run

Two brothers are clinging to life after they were both critically injured in a hit and run accident with a Toyota truck in Dania Beach Monday night.

“Whoever did it should turn them self in,” said Ty’on Jacques, the best friend of the youngest victim. “He’s the only friend I’ve got.”

Fourteen-year-old Kelv’ron Florence and his 8-year-old brother Apollo Brown were both listed in critical condition after the accident that happened just before 7 p.m. along Bryan Road in Dania Beach. The brothers were walking home after watching a basketball game at school.

“Both my boys are on a breathing machine and they’re not responding to anything right now,” said the boys’ father Apollo Brown. “They’ve got broken bones and fractured faces and it’s a lot going on.”

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said detectives are looking for the driver of a newer model, metallic silver Toyota Tacoma. Detectives believe the truck has damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle and is also missing headlight and fog light covers along with the grill emblem.

“If you just take the time to stop, make sure the person’s okay; a lot of times it doesn’t even result in a citation or charges,” said Veda Coleman-Write of the BSO. “So we need to start stopping.”

"I just need my boys, I want my boys at home with me, I just need my boys," mother Selena Brown said Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
