2 Dogs Attack Woman, Kill Chihuahua in Miami

A Miami woman says she was badly injured and her Chihuahua was killed after they were attacked by two dogs Thursday.

Ada Rojas, 83, was out on her daily morning walk with her Chihuahua Gucci when the unthinkable happened. She says two unleashed dogs went on the attack.

"They rushed Gucci and basically devoured him, she got her left hand to pull the dogs away and she wound up with 100 stitches in her arm," said Rojas' daughter, also named Ada,

Devastated by her dog's violent death, Rojas was rushed to the hospital for treatment. But the nightmare didn't end there.

As her husband carried the dog's body back home, he collapsed.

"My father suffered a heart attack. Gucci isn't just a pet, he'a family member," Ada said.

Miami-Dade Animal Services now has both dogs as part of their investigation. The female was the aggressor in the attack but the male has a chip, so officials hope it will lead them to the owner.

Rojas hopes other pet owner will learn from her ordeal.

"Don't let them loose, don't allow this to happen to any other family, this could happen to your family, it could've been a child," she said.

Ada said if not for a quick-thinking driver who stopped and pulled her mother into the car, things could have been worse.

"I don't know who she is, I don't know her name. May God Bless her, thank you, you saved my mother," she said.

The female dog will be in quarantines for 10 days, but she may be deemed dangerous and put down. The Rojas family said they will start their search for another puppy to love.
