2 Killed, 2 Injured as Car Collides with Charter Bus in Fort Lauderdale

Two people were killed and two others were injured after a car collided with a charter bus full of students in Fort Lauderdale early Friday morning.

The crash happened just before midnight at Northwest 27th Avenue and 11th Court.

Fort Lauderdale Police say the charter bus had 35 students and one chaperone on board. The group was returning from a trip to Tallahassee and had just dropped a few students off at Dillard High School.

As the bus went to make a left turn, a driver slammed into the bus. Police say there were two men in the car, one died at the scene while the other was taken to Broward Health Hospital where he also died.

Authorities later identified the driver who died as 41-year-old Cedrick Camper III. His passenger was identified as 37-year-old Otis Harvey.

The adult chaperone and one of the students on the bus were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Neither the bus driver or the other students on the bus were injured.

The charter bus was bringing several students back to several different schools throughout Broward County following a four day field trip to the state's capitol.
