2 People Shot in Lauderhill, Suspect at Large: Police

The victims were found at a barber shop and a McDonald's, police said

Two people were shot in Lauderhill Friday in the area of NW 55th Avenue and Oakland Park Boulevard when a suspect wearing a mask stood at the front door of a barber shop and opened fire, police said.

"I heard about six gunshots outside and when I look I see some guys running and going crazy," witness Gary Elvie said of the shooting at the Black Pearl Barber Shop.

It took place just after 5 p.m. Friday in a strip mall near Florida's Turnpike. One witness said that a customer was hit while sitting in a barber's chair.

A second man who was outside was also shot. He was found at a nearby McDonald’s, Lauderhill Police said.

They described the suspect, who is still at large, as a black male who was wearing dark clothing and a mask.

The barber shop's glass door was shattered during the shooting. Workers installed plywood in its place Friday night.
