Miami Police have announced the street closures for the annual Calle Ocho Festival coming up this Sunday.
The 2013 edition of the festival will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Southwest 8th Street between Southwest 27th Avenue and Southwest 8th Avenue.
Beginning on Saturday at 11:30 p.m., eastbound traffic will be closed on Southwest 8th Street from Southwest 27th Avenue to Southwest 7th Avenue. Vehicles seeking to go east on Southwest 8th Street will need to take detours north or south on Southwest 27th Avenue.
In addition, Miami-Dade Transit buses that normally travel along Southwest 8th Street will be detoured, police said. See www.miamidade.gov/transit for more information.
Westbound traffic on Southwest 7th Street will remain open until Southwest 8th Avenue, and will be detoured north after that, police said.
They encouraged drivers to take alternate routes if they need to go in the vicinity of the festival.
Residents who live in the area will be allowed access to Southwest 7th Street on its north side or to Southwest 9th Street on its south side, according to police.
Southwest 8th Street will re-open to traffic by 5 a.m. Monday.
