2nd Arrest Made in Shooting Outside Carol City High: Police

A second arrest has been made in connection with the shooting outside Carol City Senior High School in Miami Gardens this week.

Police said 19-year-old Stanley Ragin surrendered to authorities on Friday. They said he was shot in the forearm during the incident.

18-year-old Cedric Admas was also arrested for his alleged involvement in the shooting. He is facing multiple charges and faced a judge Friday morning.

The shooting happened Wednesday around 3 p.m., about an hour after students were let out. No one was injured but a school office window was hit, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, Admas is a member of the 2100 street gang in Opa-locka. Police said Ragin is also a known gang member.

Admas and other members of the gang had gotten out of a car and approached someone he believed to be from a rival gang when the shooting happened, according to the arrest report.

Police said at least eight shots were fired and the gunfire was aimed at someone walking in front of the school, not the school itself. The person who was targeted isn't a student and reportedly returned fire.

Police said more arrests could be made. There's no word on whether the two arrested suspects have hired attorneys.

The shooting left students and spiritual leaders praying for peace. Pastors from numerous churches along with city leaders united outside the school Friday with an important message: the violence has to end.

Within 72 hours, shots have rang out near two Miami-Dade schools. And shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, three Miami Gardens schools were put on lockdown after a drive-by shooting at a home in the 19000 block of Northwest 39th Court. No one was hurt.

"I get sick and tired of every time I turn on my TV, a child has lost their life. It's now time for that to stop," one neighbor said.
