2nd Person Arrested in Armed Kidnapping and Sexual Battery Case: North Miami Beach Police

A juvenile suspect was arrested in the case over the weekend

A second person was arrested Tuesday in connection with the recent armed kidnapping and sexual battery of a woman, North Miami Beach Police said.

The 17-year-old male was seen Tuesday in a blue Nissan by detectives, who followed the car until authorities were able to carry out ā€œa proper and safe takedown of the car and its occupants,ā€ police said in a news release.

Once more law enforcement personnel were in the area the car stopped and its occupants were detained, at Northeast 2nd Court and Northeast 58th Terrace, at about 1:20 p.m., police said.

The person was initially taken into custody as a person of interest in the kidnapping and sexual battery case, and was arrested for an unrelated November armed robbery case, police said.

After he was interviewed at Miami-Dade Police headquarters, he was arrested on charges of armed kidnapping, armed sexual battery and armed robbery, police said.

Police said they would also be interviewing him about the November robbery case.

A juvenile suspect was arrested over the weekend in the kidnapping and sexual battery case, police said Monday. He was charged with armed sexual battery, armed carjacking, armed kidnapping and possession of marijuana, according to police.

Close to midnight on Thursday, Jan. 16 the victim was picking up food from a restaurant at 1026 North Miami Beach Blvd. when she was approached by at least two male suspects who had handguns and wore black gloves, police said.

The suspects forced her into the back of her car and drove to the Oak Grove area in North Miami-Dade where she was sexually assaulted by multiple people, according to police.

After more driving they eventually dropped her off by her home, police said.

The case remains open as detectives seek an additional involved suspect or suspects, police said.
