3 Men Arrested in Hialeah Gas Station Armed Robberies

Three men are facing charges in the armed robberies of two Hialeah gas stations, police said Monday.

Reinier Ocampo, 21, and Rafael Montalvo, 20, were arrested Saturday on two counts of armed robbery, Hialeah Police said. Osniel Munoz, 24, is facing one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, police said.

Police said Ocampo and Montalvo robbed the Exxon station at 801 E. 25th Street on Nov. 12, and the Marathon station at 4444 W. 12th Avenue on Nov. 15.

"A very unique way of committing their robberies, very difficult to catch," Hialeah Police spokesman Carl Zogby said.

In both robberies, the pair rode a motorcycle and would rob the clerk at gunpoint before fleeing on the motorcycle, police said. They stole $600 in the Exxon robbery and $350 in the Marathon robbery, police said.

"We used some sources that we have at street level, we got some good info, followed it up until we caught these armed robbers," Zogby said.

Munoz assisted in the Exxon robbery by checking the layout of the clerk's work area 20 minutes before the robbery, police said.

"During one of the robberies he was inside the store a little while before casing it out, checking out if conditions were good for a robbery," Zogby said.
