    A three-year-old girl was shot inside her home Wednesday night, Miramar Police confirmed to NBC 6. Ari Odzer reports.

    A three-year-old girl was shot inside her home Wednesday night, Miramar Police confirmed to NBC 6.

    The shooting happened in a gated community on the 4300 block of SW 132nd Way in Miramar. Police said the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m.

    The girl was taken to Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood. Her condition was unknown.

    Miramar Police said the toddler and her mom were in the home at the time of the shooting and the mother called 911.

    According to investigators, other people do live at the home, but weren't there at the time of the shooting.

    Police are investigating how a 3-year-old girl was shot inside her Miramar home.

    "Obviously it’s quite troubling that a 3-year-old was shot under any circumstances,” said Tania Rues of Miramar Police. “However we can’t really speculate at this time on what exactly occurred."

    The shooting is being investigated.
