$5,000 Keyboard Stolen From Miami Church

A Miami baptist church pastor is asking for the public's help after the church's keyboard was stolen.

Pastor Salim Auguste of Bethany Baptist Church at Northwest 7th Avenue and 54th Street says he can't believe criminals took advantage of a house of worship.

"All of a sudden around 2:30, I receive a call that something is going on at the church," Auguste said.

Auguste said police told him someone tossed a rock through a window and broke in.

"And when I reach here, the keyboard has been gone," he said.

Auguste said the keyboard is worth about $5,000.

"It's very difficult today, I know for people to work, but at the same time it is unexpected to see people come into the house of the lord and do such thing," he said.

Motion detectors set off an alarm so the thieves only got away with the keyboard but it's a big part of the church's services.

Auguste said he forgives the thieves and won't press charges if the keyboard is returned.

"But we say a prayer for that person so God might change his heart and return the keyboard. It's a really expensive one," he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
