6 Arrested in Miami-Dade Cocaine Smuggling Ring

Six men are facing drug trafficking charges after authorities say they smuggled cocaine into the country in banana boxes and other produce packaging and used Hialeah warehouses as front operations for smuggling drugs.

Ivan Coss, Geronimo Frias-Pilier, Harold Frias-Pilier, Pedro Fernandez Sosa, Felix Placido and Joselito Romero-Diaz are all facing charges of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, according to recently obtained Miami-Dade court documents.

All six are facing federal charges. It's unknown if they have attorneys.

According to the documents, the DEA began an investigation in the summer of 2014 into the group of warehouses, which include Yummy's World Trading, Dolphin Produce, The Sisters Produce and Good News Trading.

The suspects brought large quantities of cocaine into the U.S. in produce packaging, using the warehouses, authorities said.

In July 2014, 283 kilograms of cocaine was found in banana boxes in a shipping container at Port of Palm Beach, the documents said. Another 84 kilos was found in hidden compartments in two vehicles and 169 kilos found in a van when a warrant was executed in March.
