Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department officials say the crash took place just after 7 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the Sawgrass Expressway before Commercial Boulevard, causing all lanes of traffic to be shut down for over an hour.
One person was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition while two others were taken to Broward Health North in serious condition and three others were taken to area hospitals for minor injuries.
FHP officials confirmed one person died at the hospital, but did not say which person it was.
Officials have not released additional details on the crash as their investigation continues.
