A 7-foot alligator made an unexpected appearance in a Pembroke Pines neighborhood early Tuesday.

The female gator was spotted strolling along Pines Boulevard at 183rd Avenue around 3 a.m.

Police officers responded and protected the gator for a couple hours before wildlife trappers were able to get her under their control.

The trappers are now looking for an animal sanctuary that will take the gator in.
