7-Year-Old Injured in Hit and Run in Miramar Out of Hospital

A seven-year-old boy who was struck by a van while riding his bike in Miramar is back home from the hospital Wednesday night.

Jayden MacFarlane spent four days at Joe Dimaggio Children’s Hospital recovering from his injuries. The boy's family is happy he returned home in time for Thanksgiving.

Little Jayden spoke out from his hospital bed Tuesday. The seven-year-old boy was able to utter a few words, “Hi, everybody. I feel ok."

Jayden was hit by a van near his home on Tropicana Street. Surveillance cameras show the green van hitting the boy. Police say the driver never stopped.

The boy's mother said Jayden had a fractured collarbone, bruised heart, minor bleeding in the brain and a concussion.

Miramar Police tell NBC 6 the owner of the van came forward Monday after police released a picture of the van. Investigators now say the owner has hired a lawyer and is no longer talking to detectives. It's still unclear who is responsible for the hit and run.
