8-Foot Gator Captured in Southwest Miami-Dade

Alligator led police on brief chase before trapper caught him

An 8-foot gator led authorities on a pursuit Sunday night in a residential area of southwest Miami-Dade.

Residents called police after they spotted the alligator along Southwest 212th Street and 117th Court. Officers arrived and the gator took off, walking eastbound on the street and into a nearby field.

A trapper arrived and was able to get the gator under control. No one was injured.

There was no official word on what will happen to the gator but Florida law says any captured gator over four foot will be euthanized.
