8 Horses Rescued in Southwest Miami-Dade, Owner Charged: SPCA

An investigation is underway after eight horses were rescued by the South Florida Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in southwest Miami-Dade.

The starved and emaciated horses were discovered Sunday, and the owner has been charged with animal cruelty, the SPCA said in a statement.

The horses, six thoroughbreds and two quarter horses, had the lowest score on the body condition scale, the SPCA said. All will be transferred to Homestead where they will be taken care of with other neglected or abandoned animals.
