911 calls from a former Palm Beach Gardens police officer were released Wednesday, detailing the moments after he shot and killed a motorist on a I-95 off ramp.
The audio recordings, released by the city after numerous requests and consultations with the State Attorney’s Office, include Nouman Raja repeatedly telling 31 year old Corey Jones to drop a weapon.
Raja told the dispatcher that he had shot Jones, who died as a result of the incident. The officer said he saw Jones holding a silver handgun when he got out of his vehicle.
A second call to 911 was also released from a person at the DoubleTree Hotel next to the shooting scene.
Jones, a musician who was returning home from an event when his vehicle broke down, was approached by Raja. The officer was not in uniform and reportedly did not identify himself as a member of the police.

After an investigation, Raja was indicted by a grand jury and arrested on charges that included culpable negligence and attempted first degree murder.
