ESPN has had a busy week keeping its employees in check.

Bob Griese will have plenty of time to brush up on his ethnic jokes and survey the Taco Bell menu after ESPN has reportedly suspended the college football commentator for a week because of a joke gone way bad.

Griese, a former Dolphin and Hall of Famer, made his ill-fated remarks during a college football broadcast over the weekend and he knew he was in trouble as soon as the comment left his lips.

While responding to a comment about NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya, Griese decided to try out his Def Comedy Jam routine and blurted out that Montoya was probably "out having a taco."

First off, Montoya is Colombian and everyone knows that taco jokes are reserved for Mexicans. Secondly, who doesn't know John Andretti drives the Taco Bell car in NASCAR?

In the end, Griese may have let his stomach get the best of him because he had to be hungry while watch the dull Minnesota-Ohio State game.

Griese apologized for the remarks several times on air, but by then it was too late. The dozen NASCAR fans watching the game had already started blogging.

Montoya, who lives in Miami, told reporters Sunday he never heard of Griese, which may have been a joke in itself.
