Alleged Cop Shooter Makes Strange Bond Court Appearance: Miami Gardens

A man accused of shooting a Miami Gardens Police Officer this past Friday was in bond court and exhibited some strange behavior.

David Andres Mejia, 24, made his first bond court appearance Saturday and blamed his situation on police and the judge at one point.

“I practice my second amendment my life was in danger by crooked cops but you don’t talk you work for them you Ku Klux Klan member,” Mejia said. "I was in a threat for my life they were trying to kill me ma’am."

Mejia is accused of shooting Miami Gardens Police office David Starling.

Officer Starling has been commended on his quick actions. He maintained composure under the circumstances and got on the radio as the subject fled.

Starling was taken to a local hospital and has recently been upgraded to good condition. He is expected to make a full recovery.
