Alleged Thief Turns Himself In To Miami Gardens Police

MIami Gardens Police

Miami Gardens Police were able to put a brazen burglar behind bars Thursday after the suspect saw himself on television.

MGPD said Tavares Wright, 18, turned himself in for a robbery of a Family Dollar store on the 2800 block of NW 183rd Street on April 16.

According to Miami Gardens Police, Tavares was being helped with a purchase and when the cash register opened, possibly pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the register.

Police said the suspect told the clerk, “Don’t make it hard for yourself, I will *expletive* kill you.”

MGPD said Surveillance videos showed the thief, believed to be Tavares, then jumping over the counter and grabbing an undisclosed amount of money from the register before running from the store.
