Man Hacks Away at ATM with Hatchet

A central Florida man took computer hacking to an entirely new level Sunday when he was caught on surveillance video using a hatchet to open up an ATM.

South Daytona Police said Phillip Moore, 30, used the hatchet to smash and rip open the ATM at the SunTrust Bank on South Ridgewood Avenue early Sunday morning.

Police said no money was stolen out of the ATM, but the machine had more than $1,000 worth of damagers after the hatchet attack.

Moore was identified by the surveillance video and arrested just after midnight Monday. He faces one count of burglary and one count of criminal mischief with damage to property.
