Wife Guilty of Murder Plot on Hubby

Dalia Dippolito faces 30 years in prison

A South Florida jury has found Dalia Dippolito guilty of trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband.

The verdict came down late Friday afternoon, bringing an end to a case that received national attention for the bizarre video tapes involved in the case.

Dippolito, 28, faces 30 years in prison at sentencing.

The Boynton Beach newlywed wife was accused of reaching out to a hit man who turned out ot be an undercover cop, to kill her husband Michael in an effort to gain control of the couple's home.

"If I were still on the jury, I guess I'd have to say she's guilty," said Sandra Cutter, an alternate juror in the case.

Jurors were presented several damning pieces of evidence, including a videotaped negotiation session between Dippolito and the hit man, who was actually an undercover Boynton Beach police officer.

They also saw footage of Dippolito's reaction once she was told by police that her husband had been killed. Dippolito's performance thrust the case into the national spotlight and helped prosecutors paint the former exotic dancer as a manipulative, money-hungry woman.

Dippolito's attorneys claim their client was the one manipulated by her husband. Dippolito thought the hit man hiring was part of a reality TV stunt and she did it only to help the couple gain some stardom, jurors were told.
