While traffic problems are likely in some parts of the country over the Thanksgiving weekend, Miami Beach may see some traffic relief thanks to Alton Road fully opening between 8th Street and 17th Street late Wednesday night.
The construction on Alton Road had caused massive traffic problems and wasn’t scheduled to open originally until next year. The contractors accelerated the deadline to December 31st, but Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine said the area will open by the end of the day on Wednesday.
According to Levine, the project will reestablish two northbound and southbound lanes between 8th and 17th Street. Levine said all roadway work will be “substantially complete” by the end of December, including all sidewalk enhancements, signalization, lighting, and drainage work in the area.
