Animal Services Collecting Sweaters for Shelter Dogs

Animal services needs to collect sweaters for shelter dogs

With winter quickly approaching, the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department is looking to collect sweaters for their dogs.

Starting Tuesday and running until Dec. 20, city animal shelter officials and the Miami-Dade County Public Library System are joining forces to host a sweater drive.

With dropping temperatures, the donations will be used to warm the animals who sleep on the cold concrete floor.

“We want to make sure that while they are here, they are as comfortable as possible. Some of them come in scared and not knowing where they are here. We just want them to have that extra layer of love,” said Miami-Dade Animal Services Representative Xiomara Mordcovich.

Participants can donate new or gently used dog sweaters at any county public library.

Shelter workers are also asking for fleece blankets and sweatshirt donations in children’s small to adult extra-large sizes.
