Area of Low Pressure Could Become Tropical Depression

An area of low pressure far out over the Atlantic has a high chance to develop into a tropical depression later Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The system was about 1,600 miles east of the southern Windward Islands early Tuesday and was becoming better organized. It could become a tropical depression in the next day or so.

The NHC gives the system a 70 percent chance of formation over the next 48 hours and an 80 percent chance of formation over the next five days.

The system is moving westward at 10 to 15 mph.
