A suspect was shot and killed when he drew a weapon on undercover officers in Tamarac Tuesday night.

The shooting happened about 8:45 p.m. in the area of Nob Hill Rd. and McNab Rd., according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Police officials said the BSO's Metro Broward Drug Task Force was working on the undercover operation with members of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

Killed was 18-year-old Seyoum Samuels, who was allegedly part of a group of suspects who had committeed several armed robberies in the areas with high-powered weapons.

Police say the officers met with the group of suspects to rob a drug house. When the officers revealed themselves as cops, Samuels, who was wearing a bullet-proof vest, tried to reach for his handgun, and police opened fire.

Three other suspects were taken into custody.

The shooting is under investigation and the officers who fired their weapons have been placed on routine administrative leave.
