Arrest Made in Teen Overdose

Jordy Garcia, 20, is charged with child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police say they have arrested 20-year-old Jordy Garcia in connection to the drug overdose of four minors at a Miami park.

Garcia is charged with child abuse causing great bodily harm and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, jail records show.

The four teens, who are between 14 and 16 years old, were rushed to the hospital Thursday after they overdosed on synthetic marijuana at Sewell Park at 1825 Northwest South River Drive, officials said.

When officers and fire rescue arrived, one of the teens was unconscious and the three teens that were still conscious were running around erratically, jumping on trees, and hallucinating, officials said.

Police said the teens had been smoking a type of synthetic marijuana called Ambrosia, which is legal and available over the counter. The teens, however, were not of age to be consuming the product, police said.

They have all been treated and since released from the hospital.

Garcia is being held on $8,500 bond. It is unclear if he has an attorney.
