Arroyo Pleads Not Guilty in “Slow Ride” Arrest

Heat player's lawyer enters plea in Feb. traffic incident

Miami Heat guard Carlos Arroyo pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor resisting arrest and traffic violations Wednesday for his February "slow ride" incident.

Arroyo didn't attend the hearing in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, his lawyer entered the plea for him.

The NBAer was arrested Feb. 26 in Coral Gables after he allegedly refused to pull his slow-moving car over.

Police said Arroyo was driving too slowly in morning rush hour traffic, but when a motorcycle cop tried to pull him over, Arroyo just kept going.

When he was finally pulled over, Arroyo refused to get out of his car, police said.

Arroyo got out of his car after back up arrived and then became "confrontational and challenging," according to a police report.

Arroyo, 30, has no prior arrests. He's played in 67 Heat games this year, averaging 5.7 points per game.
