3 Teens Shot Outside Apartment Complex in NW Miami-Dade

Three teens were injured after shots were fired at an apartment complex in Northwest Miami-Dade Thursday evening.

Police responded to the scene located on Northwest 50th Street and 24th Avenue.

Miami-Dade Police said 14-year-old Jason Gardon, 15-year-old Lawrencia Barrett and 18-year-old Alexander Stalens were shot around 8 p.m. They were rushed to the hospital in stable condition.

The teen girl was shot in her abdomen. Gardon suffered injuries to his right leg and Stalens was shot in the hand.

The violence started after one of the victims and the suspect got into an altercation. The suspect left but came back with a gun and started shooting.

"They say he walked up on the porch and started shooting at whoever he was shooting at, shooting at everybody. My grand baby was right there he was standing, right next to my grand baby shooting," said Barrett's mother, Frances Robinson.

Miami-Dade detectives said Barrett is a student at Edison Senior High School and Gardon attends Robert Renick Education Center.

Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho tweeted against the gun violence. He said "The culture of disrespect and violence that resulted in tonight's shooting is unacceptable."

Police said one person has been detained. Officers are looking for two other men, who are said to be between the age of 18 and 20 years old.
