Authorities were investigating a suspicious death in Deerfield Beach Friday afternoon after a woman was found dead in her apartment, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Friends and family identified the woman as 58-year-old Jackie Daniels-Davis, who was discovered by a neighbor in her home on the 200 block of SW 1st Terrace.

"I pushed the door open and she was on the bed, and I tried to wake her up," said Vincent Pressley, who said he saw her the night before. "She wouldn't wake up, came back out and called 911."

Her friends and family had nothing but good things to say about the woman, whose life was suddenly and mysteriously cut short. She acted as a caretaker for the property and knew a lot of people in the neighborhood.

"I try not to think at it," said neighbor Roger Fields. "Me and her were real close, we were good friends. I'm gonna miss her."

"She never bother anybody," said her friend Gerald Wright.

BSO homicide detectives said they do believe foul play was involved, but do not have a anyone in custody.

"She didn't deserve nobody to take her life," friend Shirley Kemp told NBC 6 South Florida. "She's a beautiful lady inside and outside."

Her cousin said Daniels-Davis lived in the home for quite some time, and with no motive or suspects in this case, she wants to know who killed her.

"I loved my cousin, and whoever did this to her I wish they get punished," Christine Griffin said.
