Awkward Sight: Dwyane Wade Makes Miami Return After Leaving Heat This Offseason

For the first time in the 2016-17 NBA season, Dwyane Wade will take the court at the AmericanAirlines Arena – but not in a Miami Heat uniform.

Wade returns to South Florida Thursday night for the first time with his new team, the Chicago Bulls. Wade spent the first 13 seasons of his pro career with the Heat, winning three NBA titles and becoming the face of the franchise during his time.

The return has gained even more attention of late when Wade told reporters he hasn’t spoken with Heat President Pat Riley since leaving to join his hometown team. The nasty divorce between both sides this past offseason was met with sadness and anger from some fans over the decision to let the future Hall of Famer go.

While in Miami, Wade was a 12 time All-Star who made the All-NBA team eight times. He joined forces with friends LeBron James and Chris Bosh, as “The Big Three” led the Heat to four straight Finals appearances, winning twice in 2012 and 2013.

This will be Wade’s only visit to Miami this regular season, as the Heat and Bulls will meet twice more with both games being played in Chicago.
